Review of Sony Vaio (VPCEB34EN) E series

Hi This post is about my Sony vaio laptop experience which might help you in buying Sony's vaio .
I bought my sony vaio (vpceb34en) laptop in Novermber 2010. Worth  40,000(INR)

Basic Specs - E series
  • Intel core i3 processor 2.40 GHz
  • windows 7 Home basic (original- pre-loaded)
  • Hard disk- 320 GB
  • Ram or memory- 3GB DDR3
  • 512 ATI RADEON graphic card
Plus all features like  WI-FI,Webcam(motion eye), CD ROM, HDMI I/O, 3 USB slots, projector connector, Sata port , MMC(memory card) slot, SD slot and HG duo memory stick slot(sony cams)

Screen size and keyboard - 15.6" with isolated keyboard, which i think is best.

So its after one and half year later review .

At first look you would fall in love with sony vaio laptops. build is good and screen, keyboard is fantastic. Gaming with 512 ATi readon is awesme. But just in one year i had got a problem in my laptop. Many small spots inside screen or a cluster of tiny spots inside the screen (middle of screen, corner of screen) .

My laptop comes into warranty so i went to sony's customer care or service center and there they detected a issue with my laptop and submit my laptop just for one day with the promise to replace the whole screen. A very next day they called me for receiving of laptop and i got my laptop fixed they kept their promise. New screen has been implanted. i am happy with the service. But after 8 months what i noticed that same thing happening again.and spots are coming back on new screen as well, small clusters of spots are appearing on 3 or 4 places like in the corner of screen, middle of screen.Spots are not irritating or agitate while working. but why they are appearing. there is some problem in screen. Now that time i didn't talk with Sony customer center again because now they are gonna charge me for fixing this and i m sure they would charge high to replace the screen.

Battery life- Pretty Bad battery life, Just one and half hour. (Vaio claims 3 hours )

Brightness issue- There is some brightness issue in Sony vaio. lets say if you maximize your laptop brightness with function [fn] + brightness button. as you close the lid and open it again, It lost that brightness and again return to low brightness now if you are trying to adjust the brightness again with same keys  nothing would happen. so this happens with me all the time.I have to close and open the lid in order to adjust the screen brightness.Which is pretty  irritating.

When i follow the battery saver instructions

Ran laptop on very low brightness with Wi-fi and Bluetooth off and charge laptop upto 80% not full charged. Still gave me one and half hour backup which is certainly not good. I am a web developer and it hurts when its shows battery remaining 10% and you are end up searching for power source after just one and half hour.

So if you are heavy laptop user.then don't go for such big screen laptops. Vaio consume lots of battery if it has big screen or in this price and range.
